The UN insists that international legal standards must be upheld, especially when there\u2019s risk of severe sentences like the death penalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Charges_Against_Sheikh_Hasina\"><\/span>Charges Against Sheikh Hasina<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sheikh Hasina, aged 78, was convicted by Bangladesh\u2019s <strong>International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)<\/strong> based in Dhaka.
