This emphasises India\u2019s drive toward self-reliance in defence production, aligning with the \u201cAatmanirbhar Bharat\u201d vision. Given India\u2019s large coastline and increasing maritime interests, the vessel fills a key gap in both coastal and deep-water survey capabilities. The Ikshak is designed for multi-role tasks including detailed seabed mapping, supporting port infrastructure, aiding disaster relief and environmental monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Design_capabilities_multipurpose_deployment\"><\/span>Design, capabilities &amp; multipurpose deployment<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Named \u201cIkshak\u201d, meaning \u201cGuide\u201d in Sanskrit, the vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art systems: a multi-beam echo sounder for detailed mapping, an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) for unmanned data collection, a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) for underwater inspection, four Survey Motor Boats (SMBs) for shallow-water operations, and a helicopter deck for extended reach and quick response.
