The Government of India has officially finalised setting up seven PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks across the country. Approved on August 1, 2025, the scheme involves a ₹4,445 crore outlay over a seven‑year period (up to 2027‑28) These world‑class facilities are designed to integrate the entire textile value chain—from fibre to fashion—within contiguous industrial zones.
The parks will be developed in Tamil Nadu (Virudhnagar), Telangana (Warangal), Gujarat (Navsari), Karnataka (Kalaburagi), Madhya Pradesh (Dhar), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow), and Maharashtra (Amravati). These states were selected based on their raw material availability, infrastructural connectivity, and investment readiness
Under the PM MITRA scheme, India aims to attract ₹70,000 crore in investments and generate 20 lakh direct and indirect jobs across the seven parksEach park is estimated to stimulate investment worth about ₹10,000 crore and contribute significantly to employment opportunities
These textile mega‑parks offer ‘plug‑and‑play’ units, uniform infrastructure across spinning, weaving, dyeing, printing, garmenting and ancillary services, alongside testing labs, R&D centres and skill‑development facilities. This integrated model is expected to lower logistics and transaction costs while enhancing competitiveness
Complementing infrastructure development, the Government has rolled out the Samarth Scheme to provide demand-driven, placement-linked skilling programmes, covering the full textile value chain except spinning and weaving Alongside, initiatives under the National Technical Textiles Mission (NTTM) aim to promote innovation in technical textiles
Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar park—a ₹2,100 crore project across 2,100 acres—is being developed with features including solar power, zero-liquid discharge, built‑to‑suit units, and residential zones. It has already attracted ₹10,000 crore in investment proposals and is slated to be operational by late 2026 Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, the MITRA park is estimated to create 100,000 jobs and leverage state policies to boost textiles as part of its industrial ecosystem expansion
India’s textile sector is poised for exponential growth and global competitiveness through PM MITRA. By integrating the value chain and providing institutional support, the government strengthens self-reliance and export performance.
With projected investments of ₹70,000 crore and the creation of nearly 20 lakh jobs, the scheme has the potential to significantly uplift rural communities, enhance livelihoods, and boost state and national GDP.
The Samarth scheme ensures that skill development goes hand‑in‑hand with infrastructure growth, equipping India’s youth with employable skills in the organised textile sector and supporting exam-relevant topics on government initiatives for skill-building.
The incorporation of eco-friendly measures—such as ZLD plants, solar power, and biomass boilers—aligns this programme with global ESG norms, preparing for international sustainability compliance.
The initiative is a key government policy under Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat for civil services, banking, railways, and other exams.
