Civil Service Exam: Arunachal cabinet increases upper age limit for general candidates to 35
According to an official statement, the Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved raising the age limit for general candidates to 35 and scheduled tribe candidates to 40 for the state civil service examination. On Saturday, the decision was made during a cabinet meeting that was presided over by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
The amendments to Rule 3 of the Arunachal Civil Services and Civil Posts (Upper Age Limit for Direct Recruitment) Rules were approved by the cabinet. These changes make the upper age limit for candidates taking the state civil service examination 35 years old for general candidates and 40 years old for APST candidates.
An official communiqué issued here on Sunday stated that the proposed upper age limit will also apply as a one-time relaxation to all candidates who have applied for direct recruitment examinations but the examinations have been cancelled or postponed by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) during 2022 for administrative reasons.
Aspirants will receive this benefit as of the deadline for applications to be received in response to the APPSC’s advertisements for the various examinations. On November 22, 2017, Khandu made the announcement that the APPSC exams’ upper age limit would be raised by three years. Direct recruitment for civil service and civil posts in the state government currently requires candidates to be 32 years old, with APST candidates receiving a five-year age relaxation.
However, the Cabinet maintained that the current 37-year-old (42-year-old for APST) upper age limit for direct recruitment to the position of Assistant Professor will not be altered. According to the communiqué, the Cabinet also approved the creation of 30 new positions in the Sports and Youth Affairs department with the goal of making Arunachal Pradesh a sporting powerhouse. Twenty District Sports Officer (DSO) posts have been created. According to the communiqué, this move will enable the sports department to work more effectively for sports and athletes.
