Developing consistent routines can help you study more effectively by improving your ability to concentrate, recall information, manage your time, stay organised, and ultimately achieve better academic results. Simple study methods such as taking mock tests and completing assignments on time can aid your preparation for the upcoming board exams.

Gather Materials the Night Before the Exam

This is a simple practice that our parents have been teaching us for years to avoid last-minute stress and confusion. Gather all necessary materials such as pens, your admit card, a ruler, your ID card, etc., the night before the examination to help you feel more confident and stress-free on the day of the test.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

Getting enough sleep the night before the exam is crucial, as it stabilises the body’s hormones, including blood sugar, insulin, cholesterol, leptin, ghrelin, and cortisol levels. These hormones are essential for proper bodily function. Good sleep habits also improve memory and academic performance.

Avoid Last-Minute Memorisation

Avoid trying to memorise a large amount of information right before an exam, as it can be stressful and make it harder to focus, understand, and retain knowledge. This has been proven to increase stress levels, leading to panic and anxiety.

Arrive on Time

Try to reach your examination centre at least 15–20 minutes before the scheduled start time to avoid last-minute stress and rush. This can also help you feel more confident and prepared.

Have a Healthy Breakfast

Eating a nutritious breakfast before an exam is essential, as it provides your brain with the necessary fuel to function effectively, leading to improved concentration, alertness, memory retention, and overall test performance. Skipping breakfast can leave you feeling weak and impair your cognitive abilities.
