Assam Governor highlights role of universities in facilitating research

Gulab Chand Kataria, Assam Governor, has emphasized the role universities play in facilitating research and ensuring that the results are utilized for the benefit of all. Additionally, he argued that university courses must be reorganized to support the nation’s knowledge-based education system. According to a Raj Bhavan press release, Kataria was scheduled to speak on Saturday at the concluding event of a three-day national conference of vice-chancellors on the topic “Transformative Higher Education for Atmanirbhar Bharat.” The gathering was coordinated by the Relationship of Indian Colleges and facilitated by College of Science and Innovation (USTM), Meghalaya.

Kataria said the colleges ought to assume the part of working with quality examination and dispersal of the result of the exploration to serve humankind. The colleges and different organizations of advanced education ought to likewise establish a scholastically helpful climate for the researchers and other examination researchers to attempt excellent exploration projects and obtain their outcomes distributed in global exploration diaries. He stated that the researchers ought to develop new technologies for the greater good based on the findings of their research. In addition, the governor maintained that university courses should be restructured to promote India’s knowledge-based learning system.

He suggested that universities should facilitate the utilization of India’s ancient knowledge base in order to rediscover the country’s inner vitality. “The institutions of higher education can play the role of a catalyst for using the physical, mental, and intellectual faculty of the students to build a sensitive and humane society,” Kataria said, stressing the aspect of education that builds character. Additionally, he stated that the New Education Policy will assist in preparing the educational system for the upcoming challenges. The release added that Rakkam A Sangma, Meghalaya’s Education Minister, Nani Gopal Mahanta, National Secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Atul Kothari, and Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities, were among the dignitaries who attended the event.
